Rikka - DYON

very quick sketch done to fit the deadline.... even though the deadline got extended for like months..... grrr

the character profile took me hours to do though....

name: Rikka Souya [六花 霜夜]
Rikka - ri:six, ka:flower. six sided flower. in this case it takes the meaning of a snow flake. (in japanese it directly means snow)
Souya - sou: frost, ya: night. basicly means a cold night.

age: 17

history:
Rikka came from a family with rare blood line that posesses the Fuusougan [風霜眼] . Since the Fuusou eyes can only be passed down through female side of the family, she was expected to inherit it. But due to a accident before birth, Rikka was born near blind, and as a infant, she was very weak and often ill. During early childhood, her parents tried everything they could think of to fix her eyes, and treated her with utter most care, but they gave up when she became completely blind at age 5. once she became useless to the family, Rikka was ignored and looked down apon. A year later she was sent to ninja academy and told to never return home untill she has proven herself useful.
After Rikka graduated the academy with poor grades, she tried multiple times for the chuunin exam, but she never passed due to lack of practical field battle ability and team cooperation.

personality:
quiet and reserved. Rikka rarely talks with others, she is constantly planing and plotting in silence.

future dreams, hopes, and goals:
unlike other ninjas of the same rank, becoming a chuunin sits very low on her list of things to do, mostly because she has no interest in serving her country or protecting her village. Being a respectable shinobi would indeed prove herself to her family, but she hates all their guts, so it wouldn't make any difference. The way she sees it, her future's very bleak. with her health condition, it'll be a miracle if she lived till 30.
If there's one thing she wants out of life, it would the the chance to see her half brother with her own eyes.

likes: soft music. the feel of snow. the nature smell of grass and dirt after rain.

dislikes: hot weather. families, especially her own. young children. and most of all loud noises, because it distracts her from hearing her surroundings, thus leaving her vulnerable.

weapons, jutsus, and killing methods: Rikka'll use anything that gets the job done, most of the time poisoning being the easiest way. though she does like small throwing weapons such as small kunai or throwing needles. Rikka is not skilled at hand to hand to combat or basic justus, all her kills must be planed and few reqirements must meet before each attack. this fatal flaw makes her very weak in random unexpected battles, but it also makes her very good at what she does: planed assassination.
few mentionable techniques:
gisoujutsu [偽装術]: disguise to get close to enemy, this may take weeks, months, or years. once the chance present itself, go for the kill.
setsutanchou [雪丹頂]: ability to produce poison that can be spread through cold liquid or snow. colorless, odorless and tasteless. any skin contact leads to infection and then death. useful for setting trap or against large amount of enemies. the poison is harmless to its user.
kashinjutsu [勘心術]: a jutsu that effects area about diameter of 1000 feet, scrolls must be planted on the edge of parameter. once enemies enters the area, the user'll be able to sense their every move. very effective in heavily wooded area; useless against enymy with byakugan eye. This ability allows Rikka to sense her surroundings instead of seeing it.


extra information:
Her older half-brother's name is also Rikka [立夏], but as in [ri:beginning, ka:summer]. because he was born on the first day of summer. (rikka means first day of summer on japanese/chinese farmer's calender) He was expected to be a girl, thus having a girl's name.
Rikka [六花] [snow] recieved her name bacause she was born on coldest day of winter. Her youger sister is also named Rikka [梨香] [ri: pear, ka: pleasant scent. means the fragrance of riped pear.] Her mother gave all her children the same name because the first two failed to fulfill their role as a fuusougan heir, and each time she wanted to overwrited the exitence of the previous child by creating another one on top of the failure.

fuusougan [風霜眼] - [fuu: wind, sou: frost. harsh weather, also means hardships. gan: er. duh, as in, eyes. like sharingan.]

setsutanchou [雪丹頂] - [setsu: snow, tanchou: red crane. also name of a famous chinese poison that kill in seconds]


er.. sorry for my bad writing and grammer, usually drawing contests don't include any writing, but in this case its required... i had thought about leaving out the names because i know i'd have hard time explaining the double/triple meanings in kanji, but it was just to tempting >.<
